More pupils get their first choice school
NEW figures released today show that 97.20% of students applying for a place at one of Suffolk’s high or upper schools got their first preference place.
The county council has sent out letters and emails today to parents and carers informing them of the outcome of their child’s application to high and upper school.
County Councillor Graham Newman, Portfolio Holder for Children, Schools and Young People's Services, said;
“I am thrilled to see this increase on last year’s figures.
“We have some superb schools in Suffolk so I am delighted to see even more pupils able to go to the school of their choice, it’s fantastic.
“Progressing to secondary school and beginning preparations for GCSEs is an important moment for any young person, so the more we can do to make the transition right for the student, the better. I wish everyone starting a new school in September every success and I hope they settle in quickly to their new surroundings.”
