Tollgate junction improvements in Bury St Edmunds consultation

Comment on the consultation on Tollgate junction improvements from Tuesday 4 February to Tuesday 17 March 2020.

This consultation is closed.

What we were consulting on

As part of the planning conditions for the Abbeygate sixth form centre on Western Way and the Marham Park housing development in Fornham All Saints, money has been set aside to make improvements to the Tollgate junction in Bury St Edmunds to mitigate the increase in traffic the developments will bring to the north-west areas of the town.

As the Highways Authority, Suffolk County Council is using this opportunity to consider a longer term more sustainable solution for the Tollgate area, which will create even more capacity to serve the area including creating better facilities for pedestrians and creating better air quality.

Whilst this work is underway, we will take the opportunity to ensure street lighting, road drainage and footways at the junction are left in good order to reduce the risk of having to go back on another occasion.
