Proposed disposal of the former All Saints Church of England Voluntary Controlled Middle School

Our consultation on a proposal to dispose the former All Saints Church of England Voluntary Controlled Middle School closes on Monday 15 July 2019.

This consultation closed on Monday 15 July 2019.

You will be aware that All Saints Church of England Voluntary Controlled Middle School in Sudbury closed in August 2013 and the school buildings were demolished soon afterwards. Suffolk County Council has been considering the future of the site.

Notice is therefore hereby given that Suffolk County Council intends to apply to the Secretary of State for Education to dispose of approximately 49,732m² of former school land, 45,195m² of which was used as playing fields, at the above site under Section 77 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998. Subject to Secretary of State approval it is proposed that this site is sold as part of the much larger Chilton Woods estate to be developed for housing. As part of this arrangement the developers will make available another site for a newly built primary school to accommodate children from the additional housing. The new school will be funded from the proceeds of the sale of the former middle school site and S106 developer contributions.
