Non-statutory consultation on SEND provision at Copleston High School

Our non-statutory consultation on SEND provision at Copleston High School.

This consultation has now closed.

Suffolk County Council (SCC) consulted on a proposal to provide a new teaching block for up to 18 Key Stage 3 & 4 pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEND). Whilst pupils will very much be included into School life at Copleston High School, these 18 pupils will be in addition to the School’s mainstream places.

Across Suffolk there is a shortfall of special education places available. This can mean that some pupils have to be educated away from their local communities. As part of a SEND capital programme, Copleston High School have been selected to deliver specialist places. These places will be offered as part of a dedicated purpose built teaching block with specially trained staff. Places will be commissioned and funded by Suffolk County Council. It will give more children the opportunity to be educated in their community closer to home. The funding for capital works at Copleston High School is being provided by Suffolk County Council.

This non-statutory pre-application planning consultation will enable us to gather the views of local residents prior to the submission of the planning application. It does not affect the right to comment on the proposals during the statutory planning consultation process.
