Despite the restrictions easing, it is still paramount that those testing positive for Covid-19 or those with symptoms, self-isolate for 10 days from the onset of their symptoms, or for those without symptoms, 10 days from the date they were tested.
We would welcome ideas that focus on practical, social and emotional support for those who need it to ensure individuals stay at home during this time and help stop the spread.
Support may include but is not limited to; food and essential supplies, emotional support, dog walking, collecting prescriptions/parcels, basic care needs, mental health support, well-being measures, digital inclusion, meeting the needs of different groups.
The spread of COVID-19 continues to accelerate across Suffolk, and it is felt there is potential to harness the collective power of the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) to help stop the spread.
The Engaged Communities task and finish group are a team of professionals from the voluntary and community sector in Suffolk who are committed to leverage the knowledge and assets of the sector to help stop the spread.
This task and finish group are seeking local organisations to step forward and bid for ‘parcels’ of work which will be key to stopping the spread of the virus. This work is funded by the ‘Control of Outbreak Management Fund.’
The Engaged Communities group will be providing oversight and support to all bids and all successful bidders will be expected to regularly report progress to this group.
This funding briefing is for organisations who fall within the remit of the voluntary and community sector in Suffolk.
The Engaged Communities group strongly feel that there is potential for maximum impact to be made at a grassroots level and so is encouraging the entire sector to step forward and get involved with this work.
Groups and organisations seeking funding must be a constituted body with a bank account requiring two signatories. However, the Engaged Communities group understands there are small groups working in Suffolk undertaking valuable and impactful work who do not meet these criteria but may wish to be part of this. In these instances, they are encouraged to partner with a larger organisation or to contact Community Action Suffolk on 01473 345400 or email firstname.lastname@example.org who may be able to undertake some match-making.
It should be noted that the work and/or groups listed as potential organisations are not exhaustive and the Engaged Communities group are open to approaches and ideas to access communities in Suffolk, particularly given how time sensitive this work is.
