What is Perinatal Mental Health?

Perinatal Mental Health problems are those that occur during pregnancy or in the first year following the birth of a child. This can cover a wide range of conditions.

You may have experienced mental health issues before your pregnancy and may be worried about how having a child may have affected your mental health.

If left untreated, the mental health issues can lead to a long term impact on the mother, the child and family.

Make an appointment with your GP and midwife and they will be able to provide you with support and advice. The information below may also be helpful.
