Supply Chain Skills Development Fund

The Supply Chain Skills Development Fund (SCSDF) is responsible for providing funds to help businesses develop and upskill their workforce.

The SCSDF can fund up to 50% of the training costs for each employee, up to £1,000 per employee and £10,000 per business*. It is funded by the European Social Fund and managed by Suffolk County Council in partnership with Norfolk County Council.

What does the SCSDF aim to do?

The aims of the fund are to strengthen a company’s ability to be more competitive bidding for local infrastructure opportunities, help create stronger workforces, increase profitability and productivity, and help businesses develop and thrive with an ever-evolving world.

What are the objectives of the SCSDF?

  • To increase the skill levels of employed people from their existing level to encourage progression in employment
  • To increase the number of people with technical and job specific skills, particularly at level 3 and above to support business growth
  • To increase the skill levels of employed women and workers over 50 to encourage progression in employment, and help address the gender and employment wage gap.

Am I eligible?

The funding is available to businesses of all sizes who operate in Norfolk and Suffolk, and work in one or more the following sectors:

  • Manufacturing
  • Production
  • Food and Drink Processing
  • Energy
  • Engineering
  • Science
  • IT/ Digital
  • Construction
  • Ports and Logistics
  • Business Support for the above sectors.

What training can I claim on?

Training can be accredited/non-accredited, a full course or modular, and in anything that is required to help the business grow. The employer led training is flexible, and there are no set training providers.

When is the funding available until?

Funding closes in November 2023, and all grants will need to be claimed by the end of January 2024. The funding is available on a first come first awarded basis, so if you are thinking of claiming then do not hesitate to apply.
