The Blue Badge scheme helps people with severe mobility problems to access goods and services by allowing them to park close to their destination. The scheme is open to people who travel as a driver or as a passenger.
Blue Badge scheme: consultation on eligibility
There is currently a consultation in progress which began on Sunday 21 January and will end on 18 March 2018 from the Department for Transport.
They have accordingly committed to look again at how the scheme works for people with hidden disabilities, to ensure that the rules and guidance are clear and that those with the greatest needs have access to a Blue Badge. This accords with the government’s manifesto commitment to give parity of esteem to mental and physical health conditions.
Find out more information and take part in the consultation on GOV.UK.
The Department for Transport will provide a summary of responses to the proposals, including the next steps, which will be published within 3 months of the consultation closing.
