Funding

Our role is to help people apply to the main external funding sources: Europe, the Lottery, charitable trusts and the Government.

Funding is determined by a number of factors but mainly: who you are, what you want to do and location.

External Funding for Not for Profit Organisations

External funding is referred to as non-council funding and typically comes from grant awarding charitable trusts or foundations and the National Lottery. Suffolk County Council’s External Funding Team works with and liaises with Officers from Community Action Suffolk and District / Borough Council Officers. The aim is to support not for profit organisations to shape project proposals to meet the aims and objectives of a particular external fund. This means initial ideas, proposals and submissions are the responsibility of the applying organisation, with SCC officers supporting as a critical friends or mentor to the applicant. This approach ensures ownership and accountability (fit for purpose).
