The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) for Suffolk is seeking to
significantly develop the provision of education for young people
aged 16-19 in Haverhill. In accordance with national guidelines the
LSC is organising a local competition and inviting proposals to
bring about this important development, with particular focus on
increasing breadth and choice of courses, participation, quality

On 24 June Suffolk County Council’s Cabinet approved
proposals for the future of schools in the Haverhill area.
Following the decision, plans have been implemented to manage the
three year transition period. All of the changes will come
into affect in full in September 2011.

Consultation
At the start of public consultation in October 2007
a
consultation document and
questionnaire was distributed to stakeholders,
including; parents, teachers, school staff, governors, teacher
unions, local councillors, MPs and MEPS. As well as the main
document individual information sheets for
schools in the Haverhill and surrounding area were
distributed to stakeholders. The individual school page refers you

benefits and issues relating to the
Haverhill options were identified during the
consultation period.
All
Comments received from members of the public using
the paper copy of the questionnaire have been compiled
into a spreadsheet.
406 questionnaires were recieved from a
single middle school. Comments recieved from this group
have been analysed seperately as they focused on a
specific issue.
