Pay for a highway licence

How to pay for a Highway licence including skip, scaffolding, containers, welfare units and non-illuminated banners.

Highway licences

You can pay online for a highway licence including:

  • skip licence, extensions and penalty charges
  • scaffolding licence, extensions and penalty charges
  • container or welfare facilities units licence, extensions and penalty charges
  • builder materials licence, extensions and penalty charges
  • non-illuminated banners licence, extensions and penalty charges
  • mobile elevating works platform licence, extensions and penalty charges

When entering your licence or licence reference number, please add 000 before the given 5 digit number. For example, NRSWA-LICENCE-00011111.

You can also pay via online banking or by cheque.

Online banking

Payment should be made to:

  • Account name: Suffolk County Council
  • Sort Code: 30-00-00
  • Account Number: 00293148

If you are a Lloyds customer, you may have difficulty using the above sort code and account number. Therefore, please use the following:

  • Account name: Suffolk County Council
  • Sort Code: 30-00-02
  • Account Number: 01305978

You also need to email highways.licensing@suffolk.gov.uk with both the:

  • licence or licence reference number which relates to the payment
  • amount being paid

Cheque 

Send a cheque payable to Suffolk County Council to:

There'll be a delay to the process by 7 days until the authorisation of cheque clearance has been received.

Payment must be accompanied by the licence application or the licence or licence reference number covered by the payment and the amount being paid in relation to each number.

A receipt will be provided on request.
