There were many activities and events held in Suffolk libraries and
other venues during the National Year of Reading in 2008,
including author visits and celebrations
of national events such as
World Book Day.
What happened in 2008
Campaign Launch
On Tuesday 19 February 2008 Suffolk County Council launched the
celebration of National Year of Reading in Suffolk.
World Book Day, 6 March
Events included visits by children's author Richard Waring plus
Elmer and the Blue Kangaroo. Find out more on our

National Science and Engineering Week, 7-16 March
On Friday 14 March, Suffolk Schools Library Service held
the county final of its 18th annual Book Mastermind event at the
Riverside Centre, Stratford St Andrew. Read more about

Full Of Life Book Launch
April saw the launch of a special book as part of Suffolk's
National Year of Reading celebrations. "Full of Life" is a
collection of poetry and prose penned by members of six library
based reading groups in Suffolk. Read more about

Suffolk's Join a Library campaign, 26 April - 31 May

Suffolk County Council
launched
Suffolk's Join a Library Campaign, with over 90 people
joining the library on the first day.
This campaign to promote the services and benefits of joining
Suffolk libraries continued with initiatives and events
throughout the five weeks, including a stand at this year's Suffolk
Show.

The Big Draw, 1 - 31 October
Big
Draw events took place in Suffolk
Libraries. Libraries hosted drawing activities for
