Suffolk County Council gives grant aid to three independent museums
- Gainsborough's House in Sudbury
- the Long Shop Museum at Leiston
- the Museum of East Anglian Life at Stowmarket
We also support the West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village.
Suffolk Heritage Direct
This a fully searchable and interactive catalogue from the databases of the Suffolk Record Office, the Britten Pears Foundation, several museums and Suffolk County Council's Archaeology Service and St Edmundsbury Heritage Service.
Association for Suffolk Museums
We also grant aid the Association for Suffolk Museums, which brings together about 40 voluntary and professionally staffed museums in Suffolk. It provides a forum for museum issues and a network to share expertise and resources.
A training programme for members helps to improve the management of their collections and to meet the standards laid down by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council for its registration scheme.
