Suffolk County Council has prepared and adopted it Minerals and Waste Development Framework (MWDF). The MWDF documents sets out the policies and proposal for minerals and waste management developments for the next 15 years.
The three documents included in the MWDF are shown below:
Minerals Core Strategy DPD (adopted 25-Sep-2008)
The Core Strategy replaces the policies contained within the Minerals Local Plan and outlines the vision, objectives and a Spatial Strategy indicating where, what and how much new minerals development can take place in Suffolk up until 2021. It also contains a range of Development Control policies for Mineral planning proposals that will inform future planning decisions. All minerals development proposals in Suffolk should accord with the Core Strategy.
Minerals Specific Site Allocations DPD (adopted 24-Sep-2009)
The Minerals Specific Site Allocation Development Plan Document identifies on maps twelve sites for sand and gravel extraction containing 10.53mt and will meet the identified need for sand and gravel until 2021.
Waste Core Strategy DPD (adopted 17-Mar-2011)
The Waste Core Strategy covers the period to 2026 and establishes the overarching principles and policy direction for determining waste planning applications within Suffolk during this period. It also identifies strategic waste management sites across the County.
