We receive many requests each year for new pedestrian crossings. To make best use of funding, each site is assessed using the following criteria:
- number of people crossing the road
- amount and speed of traffic
- number and type of injuries on the road near the site
- local features such as hospitals, schools and shops and the contribution new measures will make to encouraging people to walk and cycle
To report a problem or request a new pedestrian crossing, please use our online form, selecting report type Traffic Management, problem type Pedestrian crossings.
