Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2018 consultation

Our consultation on local pharmaceutical services ran from Monday 9 October to Sunday 10 December 2017.

This consultation is now closed.

Suffolk County Council is seeking your views on local pharmaceutical services.

We want to make sure that you have easy access to pharmaceutical services and that you are happy with the service you receive.

Your views will inform the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment for 2018. The report identifies any gaps in current services and improvements that could be made.

What you need to know

Pharmaceutical services include services provided from:

  • local pharmacies
  • dispensaries at doctors' surgeries
  • specialist appliance contractors

The Suffolk Health and Wellbeing Board must publish a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment every three years under the NHS (Pharmaceutical Services and Local Pharmaceutical Services) Regulations 2013.

Since the last assessment was published in March 2015, the revised assessment will be published by March 2018.

NHS England, Suffolk County Council, and the Clinical Commissioning Groups in Suffolk will use the Needs Assessment to:

  • make decisions when they receive applications for new pharmacies
  • commission other services that could be delivered by community pharmacies and other providers
