High needs funding consultation 2018

This consultation ran from Wednesday 21 March to Wednesday 16 May 2018.

This survey is now closed.

We are seeking views from parents/carers on our proposals to reform the way in which education providers are funded for delivering high needs support to children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

The proposal is to establish a fairer, more transparent and easily understood process for the allocation of High Needs funding. Funding is not being reduced, the consultation is to determine the fairest way to use the budget we have.

The input of parents/carers is essential in order to ensure we have a full understanding of their views of the proposed changes and will support the council in shaping next steps. This consultation has been put together with Suffolk Parent Carer Network to ensure we give parents/carers every opportunity to give us their input.

As part of this process we have consulted with educational settings to obtain their views regarding the proposed changes. You can view the information on this consultation here. This was highly productive, with some valuable feedback received. This work in addition the views from parents/carers will be provide us a thorough understanding of the key areas to focus upon moving forward.
