An opportunity to explore key issues in policy approaches and critically engage with current debates and provide practical ‘best practice’ guidance

Delivered in partnership with Suffolk County Council, the Adult Safeguarding Board, the Local Safeguarding Children Board, Suffolk Constabulary, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Suffolk, Suffolk Community Foundation and the University of Suffolk.

"A better internet for whom?" will bring together internationally renowned experts in online safeguarding and cybersecurity to provide practical insight into how we can better protect children and young people online through meaningful and respectful participation.

Keynote speakers confirmed to date include:

  • Prof Andy Phippen, Professor of Social Responsibility in IT at Plymouth University – “We Really Have Had Enough of ‘Experts’ – Listening to the Youth Voice in ‘Online Safety’”
  • Prof Steven Furnell, Professor of Cybersecurity at Plymouth University – “Connect Connect Connect: Have We Forgotten Stop and Think?”
  • Professor Emma Bond and Katie Tyrrell – “Growing up - Online Safety, Digital Civility and Digital Wellbeing”
