Specialist school nursing

Details of the Specialist School Nursing Team who provide a county-wide service for children and young people who attend special schools in Suffolk.

They offer a range of individual, family and group interventions to improve health outcomes for children and young people.

These include:

  • workshops for parents/carers
  • packages of one to one interventions with a child/young person
  • group work on key health messages (e.g. hand washing)

This does not include The Ashley School Academy Trust or The Warren School, both in Lowestoft, whose nursing service provided by East Coast Community Healthcare.

Other support we provide

We also support young people accessing the Foundation Learning programme at Suffolk One.

As well as this we work in partnership with our mainstream school nursing colleagues to support pupils with additional needs who attend a mainstream school.

Where required the team also provides support with children and young people’s continence needs. This is done when eligibility criteria is met, through assessment, promotion of continence and co-ordination of product deliveries.
