Information events

If you would like to talk to a Suffolk Foster Carer and representatives from the Fostering Service more informally, we will be available at the following events:

Wednesday 30th July 10am - 4pm The Big Day Out, Recreation Ground, Haverhill
Sunday 27th July 10am - 4pm Felixstowe Carnival, The Seafront, Felixstowe

If you would like to arrange to call into our main office in Ipswich to discuss fostering in person please call us on 0800 328 2148 or follow us on Facebook to find out about future events.

Initial visits

Once you have made an initial enquiry, and received our information pack, if you would like to proceed you will need to complete the Application Form Part 1 (this will be included in your information pack) and return this to us. On receipt a member of the Fostering Recruitment and Assessment Team will call you to discuss your application to foster in more detail, and if appropriate arrange a home visit with you and any other family members living in your home.

Preparation courses

Following the home visit, the next stage in the process is to attend our preparation course. This course is broken down into several sessions, held over five weeks, including two Saturdays and two Wednesday evenings. Our preparation course will help you decide if fostering is right for you and your family, and then learn the skills required to help you look after the child you foster.
