Apply for a skip licence

You must have a licence to put a skip on a public road, pavement or verge.

Only qualified skip companies can apply for a skip licence.

The cost of a skip licence is £25.

You may need to provide signing and lighting on site under the conditions of the licence.

We may turn down applications if the proposed site is considered to be potentially dangerous to the public.

You do not need a licence to put a skip on private land. You should take care when lifting a skip onto and off of property as you will be liable for any damage to the road or pavement.

To apply for a skip licence, fill in the skip licence application form online. If you require further assistance, contact the Customer Service Centre on 0345 606 6171.
