What to do if you worried an adult is at risk of abuse, harm or needs more help in their home.

Call 999, If you are worried that someone is at risk of immediate harm or that a criminal act has taken place.

To make a safeguarding referral and a request for support, you will need to use our Adult Care Portal. The first time you complete a form you will be asked to create a new portal account. It’s quick and easy to register for an account, and means the information you send to us is secure

What to do if you’re worried about a child or young person

If you would like to discuss whether the situation you are concerned about should be the subject of a safeguarding referral, please contact the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Consultation Line on 0345 606 1499.

If you have concerns about adults with care and support needs who may be at risk from self-neglect and/or hoarding:

The referral form should be completed following reference to the self-neglect pathway (Word, 51KB) and self-neglect risk assessment tool (Word, 1.7MB).
