Blue Badge scheme

How to apply for a Blue Badge and about the eligibility criteria, how to renew or replace your badge and what to do if you are a new applicant.

The Blue Badge scheme helps people with severe mobility problems to access goods and services by allowing them to park close to their destination. The scheme is open to people who travel as a driver or as a passenger.

Check if you can apply for a Blue Badge

Before applying please check if you are eligible for a Blue Badge. 

Please note: Once payment and any evidence needed has been received, it can take up to 6 weeks to issue your badge if you apply online, and up to 10 weeks for paper applications. 

Hidden disabilities

The Department for Transport (DfT) has confirmed that from early 2019 people with hidden disabilities including autism and mental health conditions will be able to apply for a  Blue Badge. More information can be found on the DfT website, along with the consultation summary
