The aim of Suffolk County
Council's Green Travel Plan is to persuade our staff to use
sustainable transport whenever possible for both business and
private purposes. We try to do this by:
Promoting alternative transport to work
- providing more facilities at work for walkers and cyclists e.g.
lockers, secure cycle parking, showers and changing facilities
- providing subsidies for public transport and publicising
available services
Minimising the environmental impacts (emissions) of car
usage
Other initiatives
- a new cycling payment of £2 per day for council
journeys.
- defensive driver training programme for all fleet and lease
vehicle drivers.
- new pool cycles in Bury St. Edmunds.
- new pool cycles for out-lying offices to connect with town
centres.
We also monitor our business mileage on a quarterly basis as part
of the wider reporting on carbon emissions that is required by
central government.
