Installing and maintaining
traffic signals, signalised crossings and vehicle activated signs
across Suffolk.
Trunk roads are managed by W S
Atkins on behalf of the
Highways
Agency. Any questions regarding these roads should be
directed to W S Atkins rather than Suffolk County
Council.
Traffic signals, signalised crossings and vehicle activated
signs are installed and maintained to a high standard to ensure the
safety of the travelling public. They may be installed:
- to improve road safety at locations where accidents have
occurred;
- to manage traffic flows at locations where congestion occurs;
or
- to provide safe crossing facilities for pedestrians and
cyclists.
If you feel that there is a problem that could be
solved by:
- the introduction of new traffic signals, a signalised
crossing or vehicle activated sign; or
- the modification or removal of existing traffic
signals
please contact our
Customer Service Centre. A traffic management engineer
will assess your request.
To report a fault with a
permanent traffic signal please contact our
Customer Service Centre. When reporting a fault,
please be as clear as possible about the nature of the fault and
its location. Some sites have numbered poles that will help to
identify the location.
A traffic signal engineer will investigate the reported fault
and arrange for any necessary repair to be carried out. Repair
of traffic signal faults is prioritised based on the type of fault.
This is to ensure that any fault which causes immediate danger is
dealt with first eg red lamp out.
Please note: problems with temporary traffic
lights (eg where there are roadworks in progress) should be
reported using the emergency contact details supplied at the site
(usually on the generator for the traffic
lights).
