Road safety - driver training

Promoting the benefits of a proactive approach to injury and crash reduction through the availability of driver education programmes for recreational and professional drivers.


Advice on driver training is available to the public and all local organisations who wish to improve the driving standards of their employees.


As an organisation Suffolk County Council:

  • advise local businesses on “at-work” road safety issues through seminars, on site consultations and advisory reports;
  • provide Defensive Driver Training to our staff; and
  • run National Driver Improvement Scheme courses for “due care and attention offenders” on behalf of Suffolk Constabulary.and .

Suffolk County Council supports the work of advanced driving groups such as the Institute of Advanced Motorists and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) by promoting their courses through the courses they run and in response to public enquiries.
