Roads - closures and diversions |
Dealing with applications for road closures and
diversions, and issuing traffic regulation
Orders.
Roads in Suffolk may need to be temporarily closed to allow work
on or near them to be done safely. These
temporary closures need a
traffic regulation Order issued by the highway
authority. Temporary closures on public roads, may be
authorised by by Suffolk County Council, except for:

trunk roads are managed by W S Atkins on behalf
of the Highways
Agency. Any questions regarding these roads should be
directed to them rather than Suffolk County Council;
- temporary closures in the following towns or parishes may be
put in by:

All costs involved for both the closure and diversion signing
will have to be met by the person or organisation requesting the
closure.
As there is a legal and consultative process to be undertaken,
at least eight weeks notice of closure is required.
Street closures for events including fairs, fun runs and
races are dealt with by the relevant
district or borough council.
