Festive decorations on the road - electrical

Checking the safety of festive decorations before processing licences for them to be displayed on the road.


An application for a licence must be submitted to Suffolk County Council to put up festive decorations, such as Christmas lights, on or over roads maintained at the public expense, except for: 

Trunk roads are managed by W S Atkins on behalf of the Highways Agency. Any questions regarding these roads should be directed to them rather than Suffolk County Council.

Requests for licences in the following towns should be directed to:

• Ipswich - Ipswich Borough Council;
• Bury St Edmunds - St Edmundsbury Borough Council.
