Welcome to the Transport and Streets section of our
website
Within this section, you will find information about passenger
transport services, maintenance of roads, road safety, advance
notice of roadworks, green travel initiatives and the county's
transport policy.
The overall aims of Suffolk County Council's transport and
streets functions are:
- to serve Suffolk people and communities, and other users of
Suffolk's transport system by providing and maintaining, as far as
possible, safe and accessible roads, bridges, pavements and
cycleways and street lights, increasing travel safety through
schemes, education, training and publicity and undertaking projects
to improve safety and sustainability
- to work in partnership with private sector suppliers and
to provide an efficient and cost-effective
design, construction and maintenance service
- to develop a transport strategy for the county and produce
local transport plans and annual reports
- to secure an effective framework of passenger transport
services for the whole of Suffolk, in partnership with commercial
providers, and making appropriate and efficient use of our own
vehicles
