Person Profile
The Fire & Rescue Service is a disciplined, demanding and
dedicated profession.
It requires a high level of fitness which should be maintained
throughout your career. (Firefit)
You will be working as part of a team and must be prepared to
follow instructions which ultimately, have a bearing on the Health
& Safety of you, your colleagues and the public.
You must be motivated and willing to learn, you will be
supported throughout your career by the F&RS Training &
Development department, your line managers and your colleagues.
You will initially undertake a 12 month probation period, then
up to 2 years to prove competence in your role as a
Firefighter. During this time, your progress will be
regularly assessed against a set of National Occupational Standards
(NOS) and by displaying the application of your practical
skills.
You will need to have good interpersonal skills and be able to
communicate well with colleagues and the public.
You will need to display an open and accepting attitude towards
everyone you meet regardless of their Age, Gender, Race, Religion,
Disability or Sexual orientation.
