Planning and preparing for a response to major incidents
Suffolk Joint Emergency Planning Unit
Emergency planning in Suffolk has evolved into a joint unit
embracing the county council and all the Suffolk district and
borough councils - the Suffolk Joint Emergency Planning Unit.
Emergency information relevant to Suffolk, including many
multi-agency response plans and information on the Suffolk Joint
Emergency Planning Unit has been incorporated into the Suffolk
Resilience web site.
Certain Suffolk County Council emergency plans and many
multi-agency plans are held on this external website and can be
accessed.
Role of Local Authorities
In response to a major emergency, local authorities will, as far
as possible:
- assist the Emergency Services
- help the victims
- maintain services
- protect the environment
- work with others to restore normality
Each department plans their response to a disaster through
extension of the work they normally undertake, consideration of the
above aims and specialist assistance from the Suffolk Joint
Emergency Planning team.
