Interpreting and translating services

Providing interpreting and translation services to people who need assistance to access Suffolk County Council services.

Suffolk County Council is committed to tackling inequality and we are working towards equality for all our citizens and staff.

If you have difficulties in accessing our information or in speaking or understanding English, you can communicate with us using the following interpreting and translation services:

  • British Sign Language (BSL);
  • translation of our documents into different formats or languages;
  • minicom;
  • telephone interpreting and translating; and
  • face-to-face translations.

British Sign Language (BSL)

If you need a BSL interpreter to access our services or to communicate with us, we can provide this for you free of charge. Please inform us that you require this service on 08456 066 067 and we will arrange for an interpreter for you.

Documents in different formats or languages

We can provide versions of our documents and leaflets in a range of languages, large print, Braille and audio tape upon request. Contact us on 08456 066 067 for this service.

Please be aware that we use an external translation service, so there may be a delay in providing the format you require.

Translation into different languages

If you, or someone you know, needs a translator to access our services or to communicate with us, we can provide this for you free of charge. Contact us on 08456 066 067 and let us know what your first language is. We will then organise the translation or interpreting services that you require.
