Suffolk County Council is working with partners to support
people who are bullied, harassed, attacked, or have their property
stolen or damaged because of their race, belief, disability,
gender, age, or sexual orientation. These actions are called ‘hate
incidents’ or ‘hate crimes’. Partners include Suffolk Constabulary,
Victim Support, Suffolk Inter Faith Resource (SIFRE), Suffolk Gay
and Lesbian Helpline, Ipswich and Suffolk Council for Racial
Equality (ISCRE), the Learning Disability Partnership Board, and
Genesis Orwell Mencap.
To help develop this service, a survey was carried out called
'Talking about Telling', talking to potential victims, family
carers, support workers, advocates, and officers. We would like to
thank everyone who took part in the survey, and reassure them their
views are helping us to provide the best possible service
for Suffolk.
To report any hate incidents and hate crime related to race,
belief, disability, gender, age or sexual orientation, please
contact our team of experienced officers on 01473
668966.
