Youth Offending Service

Key purpose

To prevent offending by tackling the causes of crime by taking the lead role in delivering the Suffolk Youth Justice Plan and working in partnership with social care services, Local Education Authority, health authorities, the Police, the Probation Service, Connexions, the courts and relevant others.


Roles and responsibilities

  • Working with 10-17 year olds on final warnings and those young people who come before the courts.
  • Developing a corporate approach to tackling the causes of offending and concentrating on key factors such as education, training, employment and family relationships.
  • Delivering specific programmes and initiatives that promote crime prevention and social inclusion and by co-ordinating service delivery from all organisations working to prevent youth offending.
