Research and analysis

What do the researchers do?

The Community Safety Unit (CSU) has two researchers, who support the work of the Community Safety Partnerships (CSPs), enabling them to more effectively target local crime and disorder issues. The work of the researchers involves:
  • Monitoring crime levels across the county, and identifying local crime trends.
  • Monitoring the impact of crime reduction initiatives.
  • Identifying crime hotspots for targeting, deploying and allocating suitable crime reduction responses.
  • Through pattern analysis with other local data, helping to effectively understand crime distribution and explore the mechanisms, dynamics and generators to criminal activity.
  • Using maps as a media to communicate crime statistics for an area and the responses that are being implemented to tackle crime problems.
The most recent target monitoring reports for each CSP may be found on the Publications page.
