Be safe

Don't forget to make sure you, your family and your friends are safe when you're out and about in the evening. The county-wide Nightsafe group has three key messages:
  • Friends stick together
  • Get home safe
  • Don't overdo it

Safety messages

  • If you are going out in the evening, don’t go alone. Go in a group and stay in a group. Plan how you’ll get home and stick to that plan. If you're going to drink, know your limits and remember alcohol can make you more vulnerable.
  • Parents - it may not be cool, but give your daughters a lift to and from their parties and nights out.
  • If you have to go out alone, make sure you let someone know where you're going, and what time you'll be back.
  • Keep to well-lit streets and keep in contact with people - have your mobile phone handy. Personal attack alarms are available to buy from Suffolk police stations, and the SGR FM Thunders team also give out attack alarms at their events.
  • Use pre-arranged taxis – avoid flagging them down in the street.
  • If you are worried, call the police immediately.
