About Planning and Building

Suffolk County Council is responsible for determining planning application for:

- mineral extraction;
- waste management facilities; and
- its own development, for example, new roads, schools (not academy) and fire stations.

Services relating to domestic and commercial planning applications are provided by the Suffolk district and borough councils. Please log on to the Planning Portal for further information.

Validating Planning Applications

In addition to standard national requirements, Suffolk County Council has adopted a Local Validation List which outlines all the information that is required to accompany planning applications.
