Development Control Charter for Suffolk County Council
This is a guide to the level of service you may expect from the
county development control service.
This Charter sets out how the County Development Control Service
will carry out its work. It explains who is responsible for various
activities and sets targets for achieving certain tasks.
Appendices give additional information on:

a guide to commenting on applications for
planning permission made to Suffolk County Council, including
arrangements for speaking at Committee meetings;

the procedure for conducting sub committee
site inspections; and

Enforcement of Planning code of practice
The below document was endorsed by Development
Control Committee on 24 January 2008. This guide outlines what you
can expect of Suffolk County Council in carrying out our planning
enforcement activities:

Development Control Manual
The County Council has published its Development
Control Manual. This gives guidance on how the County Council will
handle planning applications, for which it is the planning
authority, namely applications for mineral extraction and waste
management facilities and for it own development. The guidance
covers all stages of the application process from pre application
discussions through submission, publicity, consultation and
determination of the application. It also includes information on
how the County Council will conduct Committee site inspections and
arrangements for the public to speak at Committee.
