THE BT/NRE TECHNOLOGY CHALLENGE

Schools from across Suffolk are being invited to form teams, take on the BT NRE Technology Challenge 2010 and live the Olympic and Paralympics values.

The Olympic Games are underpinned by a set of values, based on the philosophy of Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the Modern Olympic Movement. They are:

  • Respect
  • Excellence
  • Friendship

The Paralympic Values are based on the history of the Paralympic Games and the traditions of fair play and honourable sports competition. They are:

  • Courage
  • Determination
  • Inspiration
  • Equality

The Challenge....

'How can technology help encourage, inspire and motivate young people and their families to enjoy a healthier lifestyle?'

The challenge is cross-curriculum and designed to fit within the Key Stage 3 and 4 personal, learning and thinking skills (PLTS) framework and the Key Stage 2 Key Skills and Thinking Skills.  To take part in the challenge schools must register on the London 2012 Get Set website and enter a team of six along with an adult mentor.

Winning entries for Key Stage 2, 3 and 4 will be invited to attend the East of England regional final on 2nd July 2010 where they will present their work to a panel of judges. Overall regional winners for each of the key stages will then be chosen.

Further information about the challenge and how to take part can be found at www.london2012.com/getseteast. The closing date for the challenge is 1st of June 2010.
