North East Suffolk photographic and illustrative archive

This collection of over 5,000 images provides a pictorial history of the town of Lowestoft and the parishes in the Waveney District.

It includes photographs, engravings, lithographs, postcards and original drawings.

The collection was begun by Lowestoft Borough Library, continued by the County Library after 1974 and transferred to Suffolk Record Office in 1999.

This is very much a living archive; and additions are always welcome from the public to widen its scope .
