We collect records from all kinds of sources, including:

  • Suffolk County Council and other local authorities.

  • maps and plans;
  • minute books;
  • parish registers;
  • photographs;
  • prints;
  • rate books;
  • rentals;
  • title deeds;
  • wills.

  • film;
  • paper;
  • parchment.

In addition our three branches hold the county’s local studies reference collections, consisting of:

  • books;
  • newspapers;
  • oral history tapes;
  • pamphlets;
  • periodicals;
  • press cuttings;
  • printed maps;
  • sale catalogues.

Between them they provide a treasure trove of historic raw material from which the history of Suffolk from the Middle Ages to the present can be written.
