Whilst soldiers of the First World War could sing humorously about
their lack of rations, often army food was no laughing
matter. The Military recognised the link between food and
morale but the challenging nature of conflict made the supply of
provisions difficult. In this talk we will look at army
feeding on the Western Front and use records from the archive to
illustrate the special significance food had for men.
