Hands on History at the Suffolk Record Office

Who Were Your Ancestors?

This new two hour session looks at sources for tracing your family history that are available in your local record office. It covers parish registers, school records, cemetery registers and directories.  There is also a planning session to help you identify the steps you need to take in your own research.

The course costs £10.00 and a package of information is provided, which includes leaflets on the sources, a list of useful internet sites, tips and hints as well as common research problems and how to cope with them.

Workhouse or Manor House - How Did Your Ancestors Live?

This new two hour session looks at peoples' lives and the material in the record office that can show you how your ancestors lived.  It includes sources such as wills, inventories, settlement, bastardy papers and workhouse records. 

The course costs £10.00 and a package of information is included containing leaflets on the sources discussed, more useful internet sites and further tips and hints.
