Your Ancestors, part 1

This session is to get people started in their family history research and consists of an introductory talk on parish registers, civil registration and the census.  There is also a planning session to help you identify the steps you need to take in your own research.

The course costs £10.00 and a package of information is provided, which includes leaflets on the sources, a list of useful internet sites, tips and hints as well as common research problems and how to cope with them.

Your Ancestors, part 2

This course is for people who have used some of the basic sources and want to find out more about their ancestors.  The session explains how to access and use other source material including probate records, parish chest records and school records.  The course costs £10.00 and a package of information is included containing leaflets on the sources discussed, more useful internet sites and further tips and hints.
