Find out about Your Old House and Your Old Inn at the Suffolk Record Office

Your Old House, part 1

This session shows you sources that can take you back into the early 1800s.  An introductory talk is followed by a case study and a short planning session to help you decide how to research your property.  The session provides an overview of Ordnance Survey maps, tithe maps and apportionments, Inclosure maps and awards, directories, Electoral registers and tax documents.

The course costs £10.00 and a package of information is provided, which includes leaflets on relevant websites, beginning your property history, maps and census returns, as well as useful tips and hints on how to cope with common research problems.

Your Old Inn, part 2

This session looks at earlier source material including manorial documents, estate records and evidences of title (deeds), using one of Suffolk's lovely old inns as a case study.  An introductory talk is followed by a case study and a short planning session to help you assess how best to use these additional resources. 

The course costs £10.00 and a package of information is included, containing leaflets on the sources discussed, more useful internet sites and further tips and hints.
