Sunday 26 October - Black History Month
A big thank you to Karibu who organised a wonderful event. Families
enjoyed music and storytelling and learning about Africa as part of
our celebrations of African culture and heritage

Who are Karibu?
Karibu are an African Women's Support Group, a registered charity
run as part of the Ipswich Voluntary Association. They:
- provide information, advice and a help service to African women
and their families in Ipswich and Suffolk in general.
- promote awareness of ethnic, cultural and religious diversity
within statutory and voluntary organisations and the larger
community.

Sunday 31 August, Martial Arts Display
To mark August's National Year of Reading theme - Read the
Game, using the influence of sport to help promote
reading - the local Kuk Sool Won group gave a demonstration of
Korean martial arts which kept the audience enthralled. About 25
people of all ages watched as the eight members demonstrated the
various techniques of Kuk Sool Won, finishing with breaking blocks
of wood with fist and feet!
Photos show instructor John Garrod with some youngsters looking at
the display of martial arts books in Ipswich Library and the group
demonstrating Kuk Sool Won techniques. To find out more about Kuk
Sool Won training times and locations, contact John on 07789

Special event - Library Fun Day and Barnado's Big Toddle
"Escape to the Park"

About 40 people joined us on our
Toddle on Sunday 8 June. Toddler's enjoyed a story time before
setting off on a 'nature trail' and Toddle around Christchurch
Park. Luckily the sun was shining and we even spotted
terrapins in the wildlife pond as part of the nature
trail.
Everyone enjoyed our National Year of Reading themed "escape to the
park" day and we raised lots of money!
The Big Toddle is in aid of Barnado's. You can find more details at
the website
