Special event - Bee Willey
Illustrator Bee Willey is visiting Ipswich County library to run
a free fun workshop for children on Sunday 19 October, 10.30am - 12
noon.
The workshop will be held in the Children's library.

'Top Time - Time of Your Life' - the weekly meeting for older
people at the library
This weekly group, meeting on Thursday afternoons, has a
varied programme of activities for older people and carers. The
meetings are usually held in the lecture hall with different
activities each week.

At Home Library Service Book group in Ipswich library

A monthly Reading Group for older people, especially users of the
At Home Library Service and their carers, families or volunteer
visitors.
Held the first Tuesday of each month, from 10.30am - 11:45pm.

National Year of Reading Author visits
Authors Anthony Browne and Jeremy
Strong have made visits to Ipswich County library during the
National Year of Reading.
Anthony Browne visited during May, with an evening presentation
to adults and an afternoon visit with children from Springfield
Juniors and Amberfield schools.

Jeremy Strong visited during June where he spoke to 45 children
from St Helen's and St Matthew's Primary
Schools. They enjoyed Jeremy talking about how
he writes, and where - in his shed, helped by his cat who is
apparently no good at writing stories! He also read a chapter from
his latest book which hasn't been published yet.

Rosy Thornton visited the library on the 25
June. Rosy talked about the triumphs and pitfalls of writing,
how she did her research, and what she will be writing next. Her
first novel "More than love letters" is set in Ipswich and is
a love story which mixes politics and passion.
African History Month
Ipswich Caribbean Youth Steel Band
came along to Ipswich County Library on Sunday 28 October and
played some steel drums: they then helped people have a go
themselves.
As part of African History Month, the library also had displays of
books about African history and culture and an exhibition showing
the work of local artist Fran Sibthorpe which included textiles,
ceramics and photos.

Diwali puppet show

On Thursday 1 November Ipswich library staff put on a puppet
show to celebrate Diwali.
