The World Land Trust
|
On April 16th we welcomed International charity The World Land
Trust, (which is based opposite Halesworth Library) to do a
children's craft session. We were shown lots of pictures of the
fascinating creatures and plants of the rainforest in Paraguay, and
then the children made a display of butterflies, snakes, birds,
trees etc, which has been in the window at the WLT. A great way to
forge the links between the library and the
charity! |
Banish those carbon footprint blues
On Sunday 21 March, 30 people of all ages including five
children enjoyed the first library performance of Turning the
Tide, a play designed to get people talking about how we can
all reduce our carbon footprint: there was music, song and laughter
with plenty of discussion afterwards, along with home made
refreshments provided by Halesworth Transition Group.
Open Space Theatre Company created the play, a carbon fantasy in
one act by Peppy Barlow, with sponsorship from the East of England
Development Agency. They received funding for 10 performances with
Suffolk libraries hosting three of these. The Halesworth Library
performance was organised with Halesworth Transition.
