Half Term Activities


Tudor painting activitiy During the half term holiday children were treated to many exciting activities at Halesworth library.  These included mini monsters, Halloween maths mazes, book art and Tudor painting.  The Tudor painting workshop saw children using the same materials and pigments as those used in Tudor times to create paints and pictures.

Team Read

During the summer children have had the opportunity to take part in this year's reading challenge ... Team Read. All they had to do was read 6 books...

The children who finished this year's reading challenge received their medals and certificates on Saturday 27 September at 3.00pm.  They were presented by Councillor Wendy Mawer in the children's library.

Author Julia BlackburnHalesworth library users were treated to an extremely interesting talk by local author Julia Blackburn as part of the National Year of Reading. Julia is the author of five non-fiction books: "Charles Waterton", "The Emperor's Last Island", "Daisy Bates in the Desert", "Old Man Goya" and "With Billie". She has written three novels, "The Book of Colour" and "The Leper's Companions", both of which were shortlisted for the Orange Prize, and "My Animals and Other Family". Her latest title is an acclaimed personal memoir, "The Three of Us", and was published in May 2008.

East Anglian Film Archive DVDs

East Anglian Film Archive has launched its new range of archive DVDs

County councillors Graham Newman and Wendy Mawer launched the new series of DVDs at the library on 28 November, a series of highlights were shown.

'Time Out" - the weekly over 60s meeting at the library


An “open house” for older people (no age limits).  It’s a friendly, relaxed and interesting group.  Refreshments provided, come and join us.

10 December Tudor Painting Meraylah will be talking about recreating life in the sixteenth century at Kentwell Hall, and bringing in some authentic artists' materials.
17 December Christmas Crafts Christmas crafts with Francesca.  Come and enjoy some seasonal creativity and festivity.
24 December Library Closed The library will be closed on Christmas Eve, sorry for any inconvenience.
31 December Board & Card Games Come and share your favourites.


Children's Activities at Halesworth Library

Stories and crafts for children available on the following Sundays between 12.00pm - 3.00pm.

Waveney Women's Health Information Centre

Waveney Women's Health Information Centre  hold a drop in session at Halesworth library on the first Tuesday of the month 10.00am - 12.00pm.  They also hold demonstrations and talks during these sessions at Halesworth Library.

C.A.D Carers Action for Dementia

C.A.D Carers Action for Dementia hold a weekly information and and advice drop in session every Friday 9.30am - 1.00pm.  There is advice from professionals and carers and information from the Alzheimer's Society available.  A representative of Age Concern attends every Friday morning.
