National Year of Reading Author Visit
 |
As part of Suffolk's celebration of the
National Year of Reading the author
Ian Whybrow visited Glemsford on Monday 17
November. The event was held in the Methodist Church Hall in
Glemsford and was attended by about 25 children and 20 adults
who listened to Ian read some his Harry and the Dinosaurs
stories.
Children also got to meet the Bookstart Bear who gave the children
from reception classes a Bookstart pack containing a free copy of
Harry and the Dinosaurs go to School by Ian Whybrow and the
Booktime Book of Fantastic First Poems.
Read more about the event
here.
We will have some of Ian Whybrow's books on display in the library

International Older People's Day
 |
From Tuesday 30 September, we had a Reminiscences display
which was up in the library for two weeks. We
asked members of the community to loan us items of memorabilia,
objects, photos, poems, letters, etc. to use in the display.
On the first day of our display, we provided visiters with
refreshments of tea, coffee and cakes etc. - twelve people
attended and they seemed to have a really pleasant time,
reminiscing about their village and their lives, with a display and
selection of books to help trigger the
memories. |
