Indic languages collection: books, films and music
Fiction
There is a substantial collection of fiction books in
Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, punjabi, and Urdu. The
Fiction collection includes social novels, crime
thrillers, historical novels, science fiction, adventure stories,
romance and short stories. There are books by most of the popular
writers from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan.
Non fiction
Books on religion, sociology, politics, history, language
learning, pregnancy and childcare, general health, cookery,
hobbies, art, poetry, biography and travel are available and are
kept upto date.
Children's library:
All the above languages feature in the Junior
collection. These include picture books, myths and folk tales,
animal stories, popular comics, language learning, information and
general knowledge, dual language picture and story books, and
picture dictionaries.
Films
A wide selection of Hindi films, ranging from classics to
present day popular titles is available in the World video and
DVD section. It also contains videos of television dramas from
Bangladesh and some Bengali language films. To view a current list

Music
An extensive collection of South East Asian music is available,
on CD and cassettes in the World section of the Music
collection. These include vocal and instrumental classical
music, gazals, pop and fusion pop, bhangra, folk music and
popular film soundtracks.
The aim is to cover as many subjects and keep the
collection as upto date as possible. Suggestions and
